Let’s face it, I have no business being on the bike trainer at all. See, my primary sport is trail running and I run ultras which gives me plenty of cardio and outdoor time…
Being an entrepreneur and active woman isn’t for the faint of heart, but neither are we, right? As we navigate the crazy rollercoaster of life, let’s remember to cut ourselves some slack, lean on our tribe, and keep chasing those dreams.
As I write this reflection, I’m in late-phase recovery. I’m not running yet, but I can hike and bike a little. When I return to running, I know I will face the voices in my head telling me to be careful and trying to talk me out of attempting technical trails.
We choose some hard things- like running races- and others, we are given- like a diagnosis. We continue to find ways to make it through the challenging moments. What I have learned is that amazing feats can be accomplished with the love and support of others.
I really should have been paying more attention. I should have taken my increasing blood pressure readings more seriously. But after a year of blood pressure values slowly creeping up, at my annual GYN exam in October 2023, I was finally asked the question: “Are you on blood pressure medication?” I was stunned.
