Trail Run Adventure Grant: Presented by Trail Sisters, Under Armour and CamelBak

Opportunity and acceptance have always been an uphill battle for women in outdoor sports. Without opportunity, there is limited participation, and without participation, there is limited information and encouragement.

Ironically, to grow participation, which would result in more opportunity…we need to produce more content and provide support.

Then the argument strikes back, “Why create content and opportunity if there is no one to utilize or participate?”

Two years ago the online journal TrailSisters.net was created to share and produce content stemming from the female point of view. If female participation rates are to rise, there needs to be more support, engagement and encouragement.

Additionally, entry barriers need be eliminated, and access to experiencing trail running needs to be supported. With this in mind, Trail Sisters reached out to outdoor industry leaders Under Armour and CamelBak, and produced a plan that would provide opportunities for women in trail running, as well as create stories which will inspire and motivate.

This plan is now known as the Trail Run Adventure Grant.

The grant will provide $500.00 to 6 female awardees for their proposed trail run adventure. Additionally, the 6 awardees will receive a Trail Sisters swag bag, CamelBak hydration pack, an Under Armour running kit and a free entry to an Under Armour Mountain Series race.

“Trail Sisters live and breathe the spirit of getting more women outdoors, which is something we are incredibly passionate about as well,” states CamelBak Brand Manager Kevin Taylor. “This grant will enable several lucky women to fulfill a dream adventure and hopefully inspire others to do the same!”

There are no qualifying standards or previous experience required to apply for the grant. We want this to be an opportunity for any and every woman, thus we invite newbies planning their debut adventure, as well as the seasoned veteran embarking on their Fastest Known Time (FKT) attempt.

To be considered, visit our Grant page for more details and to fill out an application. Submission deadline is midnight on April 19th.

Once received, your name will be removed from the application (to keep things anonymous), and will be reviewed by a panel of Trail Sisters, Under Armour and CamelBak representatives.

Awardees will be named April 30th-May 5th via presenting brands’ social media channels, and through articles posted on TrailSisters.net

Though we can’t provide $500.00 grants to everyone who applies, we can provide the community with inspirational articles from the adventures.  Awardees will agree to write a 1000+ word article for TrailSisters.net about their trail run adventure.  These articles will empower and inspire women to chase their dreams and to enforce the presence of women adventuring on trails.

Trail Sisters, Under Armour and CamelBak are excited to launch this grant, and hope you will share your adventure with the trail running community. If you don’t have any current adventures plans, please share the grant opportunity with your friends.

Apply for the Trail Run Adventure Grant – Deadline is midnight on April 19th.
