Hey hey! Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile!! Athletically, I am a 11x World Champion cyclist and triathlete with Paralympic gold, silver and bronze medals from the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games. My athletic background and achievements inform my relationship with athletes. I understand the effort and motivation it takes to start and excel in sport. Professionally, I am a doctor of physical therapy and certified athletic trainer. I have 15 years of experience in the sports medicine world evaluating and treating endurance athletes. When I was an athletic trainer for NCAA Division I universities, I worked exclusively with the cross country and track & field teams. Personally, I am passionate about helping people break down perceived barriers, build resilience, and accomplish goals. It is my belief that we are all more capable than we know. It took a tragic car accident that stole the life of my best friend and left me in a coma with extensive physical injuries to recognize the strength and resilience that we all share. When I woke up from my coma and brain surgery, I saw that my left leg was gone. It’s taken years as well as the help and support of so many, including coaches, for me to return to the top of sport. It is my motivation as a coach to pay it forward.
We are all more capable than we know.
~ Me
I strive to meet people where they are. I have no expectations about someone’s experience nor goals. The act of asking for help from a coach is a huge step and I want to support athletes as they develop understanding of their bodies, movement, and running. Some athletes come to coaches with clearly defined goals- and it’s inspiring to join the journey. For other athletes, it’s more of a process without a finite goal. Either way, it is my intention to demystify training in order to help athletes develop systems they can then apply again and again throughout their lives. I offer various coaching options from creating a monthly plan without much feedback and interaction all the way to daily communication and guidance. I try to cater to each athlete’s needs in order to reach their goals. TrainingPeaks is one communication tool. Other ways can be Word documents, emails, phone calls, FaceTime, and/or texts.
