The Cat’s Tail Marathon is an approximately 26 mile point to point trail race in the Slide Mountain Wilderness Area of the Catskills, hilly, rugged and technical.  The course summits four Catskills High Peaks – Panther, Slide, Cornell, and Wittenberg Mountains, as well as Giant Ledge, Cross Mtn, Mount Pleasant, and Romer Mtn, with almost 7000 ft of gain.  The descents are even more challenging than the climbs!

In order to qualify for this race, you must have completed a trail race of marathon distance or longer in the last two years, within the time allowed to complete the race, and taking no more than twice as long as the winning time.  You can also qualify by having run the Escarpment Trail Run in less than six hours within the last two years.  The number of participants is limited by the NYS-DEC because we run in a designated wilderness area.

Proceeds from this race go to Run Wild, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports land conservation.
