I started my running career at the youthful age of 13 with my mother. We would often run together before school and I started to crave the morning routine of getting out before the sun rose. In 2013, I dipped my toes (in mud) ran my first trail run in upstate New York and has not stopped since! In fact, my love of trail running brought me to the mountain west in 2016. Since 2013, I have run and won numerous trail races, with distances ranging from half-marathons to 100 milers. I also dabble in multi-day adventures including running the Oregon section of the PCT (450+ miles) and the Kokopelli trail (140+ miles).
I currently live in Bend, OR with my partner and two dogs (Uki and Petra). I am extremely lucky to have beautiful miles of trails. Professionally, I work a Certified Running Coach and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive additional training in mindset coaching, life coaching, yoga and meditation. My passion is helping athletes of all abilities avoid the pitfalls of negative self-talk, so that they can find balance on the trail and bring that into all parts of their lives. Outside of work, I am very invested in advocating for the environment and work closely with Protect our Winters.
The world needs to see women take risks, fail big, and insist on their right to stick around and try again. And again. And again. A champion never allows a short-term failure to take her out of the long-term game. A woman who doesn't give up can never lose.
~ Abby Wambach
As an avid ultra-marathoner, I am constantly reminded of the importance of mental training in addition to physical training. Athletes pour money into enhancing their physical strength and ignore their well-being (low mood, anxiety, and depressive symptoms). I specialize in helping athletes avoid the pitfalls of negative self-talk, so that they can achieve more balance in all parts of their lives. I specialize in working with women seeking to feel more positive and empowered in their lives, athletes struggling with mindset or performance challenges. My therapeutic speciality includes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, EMDR and acceptance and commitment therapy.
I also received my certificate as a Running Coach from RRCA 6 years ago. My coaching philosophy encourages athletes to see every performance as an opportunity to grow and choose how they view the experience. The goal of my training is to help you treat each race and/ or work out as a rich experience, win or lose because you showed up and did your best: heart, soul, and mind.
