About Local Groups

Trail Sisters Local Groups are volunteer led communities hosting no-drop running and camaraderie-building events inclusive of all paces and abilities.

The Trail Sisters mission is the foundation for every group, while each also celebrates local vibes and culture.

Local Groups bring women together based on an appreciation for the trails, while encouraging healthy lifestyles, building skills and confidence, and cultivating community relationships.

Trail Sisters Local Groups are shown on the map above.

Additionally, you can view all the groups on our Communities Platform here. To join or interact with a group you’ll need to create an account. Once you’ve created an account, simply navigate to the Groups page and click the Join button for the Local Group you wish to join.

As a heads up, we require that there be two committed leaders when opening new Local Group.

Trail Sisters Local Groups are inclusive of all paces and abilities.  No-drop style group runs provide meet-up points throughout the route so that group members can regroup before continuing on. This serves as measure to keep folks from getting lost or left far behind.

Beginners and first-timers are welcome and encouraged. Reach out to your Local Group’s leaders to inquire about what to expect, and let them know your experience level so that they can support your trail journey.

This is a complicated answer, as it depends on how much hiking you intend to do.

YES, as it is normal for folks to mix some hiking within a run activity. Whether going uphill or simply needing a breather or to relax the lungs and legs. It is assumed that folks will incorporate a mix of running and hiking at a Local Group running event.

NO, for folks wanting to exclusively hike. Running events are not structured to accommodate folks exclusively hiking. Volunteer leaders are simply unable to manage the two types recreation within the same event.

We do have some Local Groups that host hike-only events, but encourage you to reach out to your Local Group leader for more information and details.

Nope, they are completely free!
