Running on an active volcano! Yep, that’s what you’ll do here. This race is on Mt. St. Helens, the Washington mountain that famously erupted in 1980. This still-active, but now shorter, volcano makes for a hard race. Rugged. Remote. River crossings. Boulder fields. The eruptions blast zone. Possibly the hardest race you’ll ever run. But don’t let that stop you. It’s also one of the most stunning courses you’ll ever experience.
The 50K is on Saturday and circumnavigates the entire volcano, on the Loowit trail. This race has a previous 50K requirement.
The 25K is on Sunday and follows the same route the 50K uses until you get the first aid station, where you’ll descend back down and complete a loop. Completing this race will meet the pre-requisite to run the 50K.
