About Me

I am a Race Director and founder and owner of Ultra Ladies. I started running for the very first time in 1990 at the age of 40 and have finished more than 100 marathon to 100+ mile races where she I have several age division podium finishes. In 2003, I became the first person documented to qualify for and finish two of the most prestigious foot races in the world in the same year, the Boston Marathon and the Badwater 135 Mile Ultra Marathon known as the “World’s Toughest Footrace”.

“If I Can Do It… So Can YOU!”

I am an RRCA Certified Running Coach and UESCA Certification pending. I have been coaching runners of all ages and abilities for more than 20 years. I hold an active CA nursing license and I worked in Labor & Delivery where I also taught childbirth prep classes and often coached my women through birth. My career as an educator, coach and motivational speaker in the field of natural childbirth translates perfectly to helping runners learn physical, mental and emotional tools to complete challenging races. You can tell by the name “Ultra Ladies” that coaching and empowering women is my specialty!

One of my mantras is "identify your weakness and train to strengthen it". This is how you see the most improvement; such a simple concept! Another old mantra "no pain, no gain" is replaced by "if you put in the work, it will work for you!"

My Coaching Style / Methodology

Coaching is a partnership between Coach and Athlete. A good Coach will instill confidence and independence in the athlete who will gradually learn to be “self coached” through the process of being coached. Training should involve challenge, balance and fun. Training should be configured into the Runner’s life to not compete against professional or personal time. Goal setting is a huge component of coaching, and monitoring Runners to measure their progress is my job. This begins with assessing the Runner and creating a training plan that compliments the runner’s abilities and goals. Runners can expect to have a training run built toward their “A” Race with bi-weekly online coaching to monitor “A” the plan. Plans are available for follow up Coaching Calls, as needed.
