Event summary:
Welcome to the inaugural Groovy Granite! Situated on Treaty 1 territory, the course passes through Manitoba’s scenic Lee River region, at the historic AECL Underground Research Laboratory site. This land holds significance as the ancestral home of the Anishinaabeg, Ininewuk, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.
Run along the rim of a vast granite batholith, offering views of the Lee River, Boreal Forest, and Canadian Shield. Challenge yourself on fast flowing trails with technical sections and punchy climbs.

Choose Your Challenge:
Select from the 7, 14, or 21 kilometer race distances. Whether you seek a race experience or a hike amidst nature, there’s a distance option tailored to your preferences with a generous cutoff.

The course comprises a 7km +- loop, with an aid station conveniently positioned at the start/finish line.

Race Day Logistics:
Bib Pickup:
Join us on Sunday, June 23rd, from 7:00 to 8:00 am at the race site for bib collection.

Racer Meeting:
Gather at 8:15 am for a pre-race briefing to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
Race Commencement:
Begin your adventure promptly at 8:30 am.
Course Closure:
The course closes at 12:30 pm, providing ample time for runners/hikers to complete their chosen distance (4 hours).
Aid Stations:
Aid stations are stocked with essential supplies, including water, electrolyte drinks, Sunrype fruit source bars, fruit, chips, and pickles. Participants with specialized dietary needs are encouraged to carry their preferred snacks for optimal fueling.

Indigenous Runner Support:
Indigenous participants interested in joining are encouraged to contact us at [email protected] for complimentary or reduced-cost spots. Proof of ancestry is required.
Drop Bags, and Spectators:
Drop bags accepted for 14 and 21 km runners. Spectators can cheer on participants, while attendees are encouraged to carpool due to limited parking. Please note that pacers are not permitted.
Medical Assistance:
A dedicated first aider is available at the start/finish line to provide immediate assistance. Participants may be withdrawn from the race if deemed necessary for their safety.
Before Registering:
-Refunds will not be provided once registered.
-Participant limit of 300 individuals.
-Bib transfers permitted until June 16/24.
-Age requirements: 18 years or older for 14 and 21 km races; 15 years or older for 7 km race with parent on site.
-COVID-19 regulations will be followed, subject to change.
-Race Director reserves the right to make course adjustments or cancel the event based on various factors.
